On May 19, 2019, at 4:30 p.m., the bulk carrier 'Den Sha' experienced a grounding incident while en route to Sao Luis after loading bauxite in Trombetas. The vessel ran aground near the pilot station at Macapa anchorage immediately after disembarking its pilot. Unable to maneuver, the 'Den Sha' found itself stuck. In response, a salvage operation was initiated, involving two tugs, 'Brigantia' and 'Mexiana', to assist in refloating the stranded ship. By May 20, the effort proved successful as the SMIT tugs managed to free the vessel. Following this, the 'Den Sha' returned to the Macapa anchorage, where it awaited the Harbour Master's investigation procedures.
