These vessels were previously part of Oman's Asyad Shipping fleet, acquired en bloc for approximately $110 million. Their involvement with Arctic LNG 2 is significant, especially during the winter and spring months when sea ice poses challenges for access to the facility. The 'Merkuriy' was documented operating alongside the 'Saam' on the weekend of May 9-10, 2026. Additionally, another ice-strengthened tanker, the 'Alexey Kosygin,' was noted discharging LNG at the facility, highlighting synchronized logistical operations at this pivotal hub. This repair represents a landmark achievement as Ibra LNG is recognized as the first membrane containment LNG carrier to undergo repairs at ODC, following the company’s successful attainment of the Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) quality systems license this past June.
