Gas Tanker and Fishing Vessel Collide Near Martha's Vineyard
On January 27, 2020, at 8:10 p.m., the gas tanker 'Iver Prosperity' collided with the fishing vessel 'Edna May' (MMSI: 367069490) approximately 25 miles south of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, while en route to Providence. Following the incident, the 'Iver Prosperity' was anchored east of Martha’s Vineyard, where the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a thorough check to ensure its seaworthiness. Thankfully, the tanker was deemed operational. Meanwhile, the 'Edna May' sustained minimal damage and was escorted back to its home port in Tiverton, Rhode Island, with all four crew members safe on board.
