On November 26, 2016, a heroic medevac operation orchestrated by a Coast Guard aircrew took place over 170 miles offshore from the Columbia River, rescuing an injured crew member from the vessel 'Global Saikai'. The distress signal, relayed by the ship's agent, indicated that a 23-year-old crewman had suffered a broken right arm after a fall from a ladder. Swiftly responding, an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter team from Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Warrenton executed the rescue mission. After successfully airlifting the injured sailor, he was transported to the air station and subsequently handed over to emergency medical personnel.
