On August 22, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Kaata' faced detention in Szczecin due to a staggering 14 deficiencies found during its inspection. Out of these, five were classified as serious, constituting valid grounds for the vessel's detention. The critical issues identified included: 1) Life-saving Appliances – Lifeboats were deemed not ready for use; 2) Fire Safety – Jacketed high-pressure lines and the oil leakage alarm were inoperative; 3) Fire Safety – The fire detection and alarm system was also inoperative; 4) Propulsion and Auxiliary Machinery – The main engine for propulsion did not meet required standards; 5) ISM – The International Safety Management (ISM) certificate was not compliant. Following these extensive inspections and corrections, the 'Kaata' was released from detention on August 26, resuming its voyage to Ventspils, where it successfully arrived on August 28.

Authorities discovered eight stowaways aboard the vessel, all hailing from Albania.
