Technical Malfunction at Istanbul Anchorage: Su-B to be Towed to Piraeus
On July 4, the combined chemical and oil tanker Su-B (IMO: 1234567, 1324 gt, built in 2009) encountered a technical malfunction while anchored in Istanbul. In response to the situation, the anchor handling tug and supply vessel, Ocean Ergun, has been designated to tow the affected vessel from Istanbul to Piraeus, Greece. The towing operations officially began on July 6. As the Su-B navigates the Canakkale Strait, a coastal safety tug will accompany the vessel to ensure safe transit through the strait and to protect traffic in the vicinity. The Su-B is expected to reach Piraeus, Greece, by July 10, where it will subsequently be renamed to Kalliopi G.
