Diana Shipping Finalizes Agreement for Sale of Panamax Bulk Carrier m/v Erato
Diana Shipping Inc., a prominent name in the dry bulk shipping industry, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for the sale of the 2004-built vessel m/v Erato. This transaction involves an unaffiliated third party and is set for completion with delivery to the buyer no later than June 10, 2019, at a price of $7.0 million, excluding commissions, according to the company's latest press release. Following this sale, alongside the previously disclosed sale of the Panamax vessel m/v Dione, Diana Shipping's fleet will be streamlined to 45 vessels, comprised of 4 Newcastlemax, 14 Capesize, 5 Post-Panamax, 5 Kamsarmax, and 17 Panamax ships. Currently, the total carrying capacity of Diana Shipping's fleet, including the m/v Erato and m/v Dione, stands at an impressive 5.6 million deadweight tons (dwt), with a notable weighted average age of 9.30 years.
