In a strategic move to enhance their fleet management, Diana Shipping has finalized the sale of their Panamax vessel, 'Erato'. Built in 2004 by Hudong Zhonghua in China, this vessel, which is registered under IMO number 7400651, boasts a well-maintained record with its last special survey and dry docking completed in August 2019. The sale, valued at USD 7 million, has been confirmed with Chinese buyers, marking a notable transaction in the maritime sector.

Diana Shipping Inc., a prominent name in the dry bulk shipping industry, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for the sale of the 2004-built vessel m/v Erato. This transaction involves an unaffiliated third party and is set for completion with delivery to the buyer no later than June 10, 2019, at a price of $7.0 million, excluding commissions, according to the company's latest press release. Following this sale, alongside the previously disclosed sale of the Panamax vessel m/v Dione, Diana Shipping's fleet will be streamlined to 45 vessels, comprised of 4 Newcastlemax, 14 Capesize, 5 Post-Panamax, 5 Kamsarmax, and 17 Panamax ships. Currently, the total carrying capacity of Diana Shipping's fleet, including the m/v Erato and m/v Dione, stands at an impressive 5.6 million deadweight tons (dwt), with a notable weighted average age of 9.30 years.

A recent time charter has been successfully negotiated, marking a significant development in the maritime sector. The vessel is set for delivery in North China between January 5 and January 15. This agreement entails a trading period ranging from fourteen to seventeen months, with redelivery options available worldwide. The charter rate has been established at an attractive daily rate of $10,500. The deal reinforces Phaethon’s commitment to expanding its operational footprint in the global shipping industry.
