The Karadenizcem: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On December 7, 2018, the cargo vessel 'Västanvik' encountered navigation issues while transiting the Kiel Canal, en route from Aalborg to France. The vessel departed the Kiel locks around midnight but soon veered off its intended path. It made contact with both the northern and southern embankments of the canal, just east of the Sehestedt ferry station. Following this incident, the ship was secured at the moorings. To assist with the situation, tugs 'Flemhude' and 'Kiel' were deployed, successfully towing the 'Västanvik' to the Rendsburg communal port. The ship docked there on December 8 at 7:20 a.m. After completing necessary checks and preparations, the vessel resumed its journey on December 12 at 6:30 p.m., entering the North Sea waters at 11:30 p.m., with a destination of France and an estimated arrival date of December 17.
