Turchese Experiences Engine Failure in Brunsbüttel Lock
On August 7, 2018, at 11:15 p.m., the tanker 'Turchese' encountered an engine malfunction while navigating the newly constructed lock in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel. This incident caused the vessel to drift across the fairway. Prompt action was taken as tugs 'Bugsier 14' and 'Luchs' were deployed to provide assistance. They successfully towed the tanker through the locks and secured it at the navy pilings in the inner port of Brunsbüttel. Following repairs and preparations, the 'Turchese' resumed its journey at 5:35 p.m., continuing its eastbound passage through the critical waterway, bound for Porvoo after departing from Rotterdam.
