On the morning of February 9, 2013, the beleaguered crew of the Swan class yacht 'Wolfhound' found salvation when the cargo ship 'Tetien Trader' responded to their distress call approximately 70 miles north of Bermuda. The four Irish sailors had been grappling with dire circumstances 400 miles from the Delaware coast, facing battery power limitations and engine failure just one day after setting sail from Westbrook, Connecticut. Over an agonizing eight days, they were completely cut off from power, losing both communication and navigation capabilities. The U.S. Coast Guard aircraft arrived to find no communication with the 'Wolfhound', despite spotting lights on board. 'Tetien Trader', arriving from New Orleans, reached the search area early on February 9, successfully bringing the stranded yacht alongside by 8 a.m. All four sailors were rescued safely, although one crew member sustained a minor hand injury. The U.S. Coast Guard C-130 returned to its base, while an HH-60 helicopter and a second C-130 landed in Bermuda.
