Working Conditions Aboard the King-Lan

On May 3, 2019, the tanker 'Levanto', en route from Calabar to Lagos, Nigeria, became the target of a pirate attack approximately 35 miles south-southwest of the Agbami terminal. The incident occurred at around 8:50 p.m. in coordinates 02 54 50N, 005 24 40E. Armed pirates in a skiff fired shots toward the vessel during the assault. Demonstrating quick thinking and effective seamanship, the crew of the 'Levanto' executed anti-piracy evasive maneuvers and increased the ship's speed, successfully outpacing the attackers. Fortunately, both the tanker and its crew were reported to be safe following the ordeal.
