DHT Holdings Sells Off Its Oldest VLCCs, Including DHT Utah
In a strategic move to revitalize its fleet, DHT Holdings, Inc. has announced the sale of three of its oldest Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) – the DHT Utah, DHT Utik, and DHT Eagle – to a single buyer for a total consideration of $66.5 million, as reported in the company's recent press release. The vessels, which were built in 2001 and 2002, will allow DHT to reduce its bank debt by approximately $33.5 million upon completion of the transaction. The company is poised to transfer ownership of the DHT Utah and DHT Eagle before the close of 2017, while the DHT Utik will be handed over in January 2018. DHT Holdings anticipates a book loss of about $3.5 million in Q4 2017 as a result of this sale, primarily stemming from the DHT Eagle. Once the sale is finalized, DHT's VLCC fleet will have an average age of 6.1 years, aligning with its ongoing fleet renewal strategy. With a solid balance sheet, an exceptional fleet, and competitively structured time charter contracts, DHT Holdings continues to position itself strongly within the maritime industry.
