The 'Salten' quickly arrived on the scene and successfully pulled the distressed vessel from the rocks. Afterward, the fishing boat was handed over to another vessel that towed it safely into Ørnes. On March 26, 2014, the ferry 'Salten' experienced a significant mechanical failure while navigating the picturesque West Fjord. The incident occurred as the vessel was en route from Bodø when one of its engines unexpectedly malfunctioned. This unfortunate event forced the ferry to slowly make its way into Svolvær using only its functioning engine. As a result of this breakdown, the planned stop at Skrova was cancelled, leaving eight waiting passengers to be transported by a lifeboat that had been dispatched for support.
