On the morning of June 14, 2019, a situation unfolded onboard the speed ferry 'Kistefjell' as it was navigating near Harstad. Initially, the Troms Police District reported a fire in the vessel's engine room, prompting an urgent response from firefighting teams. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that an oil leak had triggered smoke by coming into contact with hot surfaces, but thankfully, there were no open flames involved in the incident. One passenger required medical attention for smoke inhalation, while the other 56 passengers onboard remained safe and unharmed. 'Kistefjell' safely docked at Harstad at 10 a.m. and has since been stationary, ensuring the safety of all those aboard during this incident.
