Repair Operations Underway for Langeoog III in Leer

Mar 21, 2026 18:18

The Langeoog III has been stationed at Diedrich Shipyard in Leer since March 19, 2026, due to damage caused by an object that breached the shaft seal of its bow thruster, leading to a leak. The vessel's seal requires replacement, but it can only be performed on a slipway. With the slipway at the Diedrich shipyard in Oldersum fully utilized, the Langeoog III was relocated to Leer for repairs. Notably, the repair efforts are being executed by familiar personnel from Oldersum, ensuring specialized care for the ship. The Langeoog III is expected to return to its regular route connecting Bensersiel and Langeoog on March 22. Langeoog III Undergoes Urgent Repair in Oldersum After Shaft Seal Failure

Feb 21, 2020 10:42

On February 18, 2020, the passenger vessel 'Langeoog III' was forced to dock at the Diedrich shipyard in Oldersum/Moormerland due to a malfunctioning shaft seal affecting its bow thruster. The incident occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m., prompting immediate repairs which inadvertently postponed the annual maintenance of its sister ship, the 'Langeoog IV'. In the meantime, the 'Langeoog I' and 'Langeoog II' operated on the Bensersiel to Langeoog route, ensuring continuity of service. The repairs to 'Langeoog III' were completed by the afternoon of February 20, allowing the vessel to depart the yard at 2:45 p.m. and successfully return to Langeoog by 9 p.m. For further details and to view photos, visit the report at https://www.langeoognews.de/langeoog-aktuell/aktuelles/langeoog-iii-und-iv-auf-helgen-gelegt/
