Alarming allegations regarding the 'Liaki Freedom' purportedly being struck by a missile from the U.S. on June 13, 2026, which resulted in the tragic deaths of four Indian crew members, have been firmly dismissed. The claims, which gained traction through India Sentinel, featured disturbing testimonies from an alleged sailor suggesting that bodies were stored in the ship's freezer post-incident. However, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) promptly refuted these reports, citing direct communication with the vessel's Master who assured that all crew members are safe and that the allegations are unfounded. Additionally, India's Directorate General of Shipping affirmed the MEA's position by categorically rejecting the claims. The Forward Seamen's Union of India did report that they have been unable to establish contact with the ship due to non-responsiveness of its Very High Frequency (VHF) radio. Nevertheless, they successfully tracked the vessel's location at coordinates 24°43.85 N 56°37.52 E.
