The Liana: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On the morning of February 25, 2019, the tanker 'Sea Beech', carrying a crew of 26, encountered mechanical issues while operating off the coast of Psathoura Island, positioned at 9-32-24 N 024-20-42 E. The vessel, which was unloaded and had set sail from Port Said towards Istanbul, found itself adrift. In response to the emergency, Seaworld Management, the shipping company overseeing the tanker, dispatched two technicians who were flown to the scene via a Greek helicopter. Additionally, two tugboats were mobilized, expected to arrive by 7 p.m. By 5:20 p.m., the 'Sea Beech' was drifting southwest of Psathoura, travelling at a speed of 3 knots. Fortunately, the engineers on board managed to restart the main engine amidst winds reaching up to 6 Beaufort from the east-northeast. The Greek tug 'Megalochari VII' (IMO: 9354985), following its arrival, provided an escort for the vessel as it resumed its journey. Ultimately, the 'Sea Beech' arrived at Yalova on March 7 at noon, where it docked at the Besiktas Shipyard for necessary repairs.
