Maritime Medical Evacuation Near Le Havre: Injured Sailor Rescued
On May 27, 2021, a critical medical incident unfolded at the port of Le Havre when the lookout reported an injured crew member aboard the vessel 'Likya C.' The incident occurred while the ship was anchored in waiting area No. 1, having arrived from Dordrecht. In response to the situation, the CROSS Jobourg promptly coordinated a conference call involving the maritime medical consultation center in Toulouse, the SAMU in Le Havre, and representatives from the 'Likya C.' After assessing the circumstances, a medical evacuation was deemed necessary for the injured sailor. To facilitate this urgent evacuation, the CROSS deployed a Caiman helicopter from the French Navy base in Maupertus, which had been conducting a training mission at the time. The airlift operation was successfully executed, and at 11:22 p.m., the injured crew member was safely transported to Jacques Monod hospital in Le Havre, where dedicated medical teams were readily waiting to provide immediate care.
