On the morning of February 26, 2019, a significant maritime incident occurred when the supply tanker HTMS "Chunag", with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 180, collided with the anchored chemical tanker "Dongyang Chemi" in the Map Ta Put area of Rayong Province, Gulf of Siam. The HTMS "Chunag" was in the process of navigating after loading fresh water when it experienced engine failure, leading to the unfortunate allision. As a result of this incident, the supply tanker sustained a dent in its bow, while the "Dongyang Chemi" sustained hull breaches above the waterline. Following the incident, on February 27, the damaged "Dongyang Chemi" was relocated to the Thai Navy Base at Sattahip to undergo repairs and further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
