A distressing incident occurred on June 11, 2022, when a 35-year-old Croatian Second Officer from the LNG vessel 'Athena' was reported missing after going overboard in the mid-Atlantic. At the time, the ship was navigating its route from Kuwait to Point Fortin. Following the alarming event, the crew of the tanker undertook a rigorous search operation lasting three days, unfortunately yielding no results in locating the missing officer. Resuming its journey on June 14, the Athena continued then to reach the Petrotrin LNG Terminal in Point Fortin on the night of June 17. In the wake of this tragedy, a thorough investigation was initiated to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
