In a swift and coordinated effort, two naval warships came to the aid of an injured crew member aboard the 'Lourdes' off Oman’s coastline on November 9, 2020. The French frigate 'Jean Bart' and the Japanese destroyer 'Ariake' undertook an emergency medical mission after a call for assistance was made. The injured individual, an Indian national, was believed to have suffered a head injury. At approximately 0100Z (0400 local time), a medic from the Japanese destroyer provided immediate first aid on the 'Lourdes' before working in conjunction with the French frigate to organize a medical evacuation using a Panther helicopter. The medical teams on both vessels collaborated efficiently to stabilize the patient, ensuring they were airlifted to Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in Oman for further treatment.
