As pointed out by Summers, maritime laws dictate that shipping companies are obligated to provide adequate medical care, especially for seafarers who often endure meager wages.

In the late hours of October 4, 2010, at precisely 11:30 p.m., the cargo ship 'Lalis' encountered severe southwestern wind gusts while anchored in Narvik port. These powerful winds caused the vessel to drift, resulting in a collision with the moored bulk carrier 'Beaufiks' at the ore dock. Fortunately, both ships sustained only minor damages characterized by scratches and dents. After regaining control, the 'Lalis' managed to restart its engine and was safely moored with the assistance of tugboats, averting a more serious incident.
