On June 13, 2023, at approximately 08:00 a.m. GMT, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, known as Frontex, first identified a migrant vessel in distress that ultimately sank the following day. The alarming situation escalated when Alarm Phone received an urgent distress call at 12:17 p.m. GMT, highlighting the dire plight of the passengers aboard. Responding to the Coastguard's request, the m/v 'Lucky Sailor' made a significant decision at 3 p.m. GMT to divert north, heading towards the migrant boat to deliver essential food and water supplies. Notably, by 3:35 p.m. GMT, a Coastguard helicopter located the vessel, which appeared to be on a steady path at that moment. Later in the day, at 6 p.m. GMT, another ship, the 'Faithful Warrior', also changed course to assist and provided critical resources by sending supplies via a rescue rope. Tragically, despite these efforts, the migrant boat ultimately capsized with hundreds of individuals onboard.
