In a concerning security incident, the 'Maersk Tacoma' was targeted by two robbers while anchored at the Apapa-Lagos secure anchorage on October 13, 2018, at 12:45 a.m. The vessel was at coordinates 06°17'12N, 03°13'52.2E when the duty watchman spotted the intruders. Promptly raising the alarm and sounding the ship’s horn, the watchman effectively deterred the robbers, who fled by jumping overboard. A thorough search of the tanker was conducted following the alarm, and fortunately, it was reported that no items were stolen.
