On September 11, 2023, the Panamanian-registered car carrier MALACCA HIGHWAY faced unexpected delays at Vladivostok port when customs officials discovered a radioactive truck within its cargo. On April 28, 2023, a serious maritime incident occurred when the Myanmar-flagged tanker Myan-Aung collided with the car carrier Malacca Highway on the Yangon River. The collision took place around 15:00 local time near Thilawa Port while the Myan-Aung was en route to Yangon. Tragically, the tanker capsized and subsequently sank, but quick action by the Myanmar Navy allowed for the successful rescue of all 17 crew members aboard the Myan-Aung. Following the accident, the Malacca Highway was detained in Yangon for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Myan-Aung, identified by IMO number 6505698, has a deadweight tonnage of 1,118 and was constructed in 1965. It operates under the flag of Myanmar and is owned by the Myanmar Energy Ministry.
