In a distressing incident off the Russian port of Novorossiysk, the 'Maran Homer,' a tanker with 24 crew members on board, was reportedly attacked by what is suspected to be a drone or a small missile. This alarming event took place in the early hours of March 14, 2026, in the Black Sea. The 'Maran Homer,' which is owned and operated by Maran Tankers Management, a subsidiary of the well-established Greek shipping company Angelicoussis Shipping Group, had recently departed from Thessaloniki. According to reports from Athens-based Maran Tankers Management, the attack occurred approximately 14 nautical miles away from Novorossiysk while the vessel awaited instructions. Fortunately, all crew members—composed of ten Greeks, 13 Filipinos, and one Romanian—were unharmed. The damage was limited, affecting mostly the ship's deck and some equipment, specifically the starboard side. The crew adeptly navigated the tanker away from the attack area.
