Thankfully, the subsequent voyage planned for February 7, 2023, out of Jamaica will proceed as scheduled. At the time of this announcement, the Marella Discovery 2 was completing a week-long 'Flavours of the Caribbean' cruise from Montego Bay, making stops at popular destinations such as Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico, and the picturesque Riviera Maya on January 26, followed by visits to Havana, Cuba on January 27 and 28, and concluding with a stop at George Town Harbour on Grand Cayman Island on January 28.

In a significant operation led by the National Crime Agency (NCA), three individuals were apprehended in connection with alleged drug importation activities off the Isle of Wight. Among those detained is a crew member from the cruise ship 'Marella Discovery 2', which has been anchored in Sandown Bay for several weeks. The arrests occurred on April 25, 2020, during an investigation that raised concerns about drug shipments related to the TUI-operated cruise vessel. The detainees are set to face charges at Winchester Crown Court on May 27, as the investigation continues to unfold.

A serious incident unfolded in the Solent on May 7, when a crew member sustained significant injuries after falling from a service boat associated with the cruise ship Marella Discovery 2, IMO number 9801676. The accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m., resulting in the crewman gouging his leg on the boat's propeller. Immediate medical attention was critical; after being retrieved from the water, he was brought back aboard the ship while still conscious but was later reported to be in shock. Quick actions by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, which received a distress call at 3:10 p.m., led to the deployment of a rescue helicopter that swiftly transported the injured individual to Southampton General Hospital. The incident prompted a rapid response from the Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team as well as the HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Lee on Solent.
