Following the attack, the 'Freud' has navigated out of Russian waters and is en route to the Eastern Mediterranean, expected to reach Trieste by January 20. Carrying CPC Blend—a mixture primarily composed of Kazakh crude oil vital for fueling the Transalpine pipeline from the Siot terminal—this vessel has been confirmed as seaworthy despite the attack. The management team of the 'Matilda', Thenamaris, acknowledged the drone strike, immediately notifying authorities. Fortunately, all crew members were reported safe, with no injuries, and the damage was contained with no pollution noted. The CPC offshore terminal at Novorossiysk is significant, managing over 1% of the global oil supply and almost 80% of Kazakhstan’s oil exports. Following an earlier strike in December that affected one of its three single-point moorings, this terminal continues to play a critical role in transporting Kazakh crude to global markets.
