Fuel Spill Incident In St. Petersburg Involving Coral Mermaid
On October 6, 2015, a bunker fuel spill occurred in St. Petersburg involving the reefer vessel Coral Mermaid. While conducting bunkering operations from the tanker Gazpromneft Nordwest, an undetermined quantity of fuel was released into the water. Immediate containment measures were implemented, with both vessels being surrounded by boom barriers to prevent further spread. Efforts to mitigate the environmental impact included the collection of approximately 0.2 cubic meters of oily water from the spill site.
