Qatar Shipping Expands Fleet with Acquisition of Milaha Qatar LNG Carrier

Qatar Shipping Company, a subsidiary of Milaha, has successfully finalized the purchase of a 60% stake in two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from French financial institution Société Générale. The acquisition involves the Korean-manufactured vessels Milaha Ras Laffan, with a capacity of 138,273 cubic meters (cbm), built in 2004, and the larger Milaha Qatar, which boasts a capacity of 145,602 cbm and was constructed in 2006. Both vessels are currently engaged in 25-year timecharters with RasGas, with 14 years left on Milaha Ras Laffan's contract and 16 years remaining for Milaha Qatar. This strategic investment underscores Qatar Shipping's commitment to enhancing its LNG transport capabilities.
