Maritime Incident: 'Mirakh' Allides with 'Silver Copenhagen' Near Spitsbergen
In a maritime incident on July 13, 2018, the cargo vessel 'Mirakh' made contact with the reefer ship 'Silver Copenhagen' in the Bellsound Bay area, situated off the western coast of Spitsbergen, Norway. This occurred as the 'Mirakh' was in the process of unmooring after discharging its cargo of fish products. The allision took place when the port side bow of the 'Mirakh' came into contact with the starboard side of the 'Silver Copenhagen'. Fortunately, both vessels sustained only minor damages, with no reports of fuel leaks or injuries among the crew. Following the event, the 'Mirakh' successfully docked at Kirkenes harbor on July 14 at 8:45 a.m.
Cutting-Edge Fishing Trawler MIRAKH Set for Service in Northern Waters
The advanced trawler MIRAKH, built to the standards of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), is poised to embark on its operational journey in the challenging northern waters. According to a press release from the RS, this remarkable vessel was constructed by ULJANIK shipyard in Pula, Croatia, and was completed in late November 2014. Following its delivery, the MIRAKH will head to Norway for the implementation of fishing gear and performance trials. Designed by the Norwegian firm СRAMACO A/S, the vessel meets the Croatian shipbuilding specifications and is adept at both bottom and pelagic trawling, as well as the subsequent processing, freezing, storage, preservation, and transportation of fish. With a remarkable sea endurance of 30 days, the MIRAKH features a refrigerated cargo hold with an impressive capacity exceeding 1,400 square meters. To guarantee maximum resilience against corrosion, the hull sections underwent a high-temperature treatment with zinc oxides in a purpose-engineered workshop. This state-of-the-art vessel was commissioned by ZAO Murmanseld 2, located in Murmansk, further enhancing Russia’s fishing capabilities.
