DHT Holdings Moves Forward with Sale of VLCC DHT Utik and Sister Vessels
DHT Holdings, Inc. has officially announced the sale of its three oldest Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), including the DHT Utah and DHT Utik, both launched in 2001, along with the DHT Eagle, which was built in 2002. The vessels are being sold to a single buyer for a total of $66.5 million, as stated in the company’s press release. With this transaction, approximately $33.5 million in bank debt will be addressed. DHT Holdings anticipates transferring ownership of the DHT Utah and DHT Eagle to the new buyer by the end of 2017, while the DHT Utik is slated for delivery in January 2018. The company is preparing for an expected book loss of around $3.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2017, primarily tied to the sale of the DHT Eagle. After this sale, the average age of DHT’s VLCC fleet will adjust to 6.1 years. This strategic divestiture aligns with DHT's commitment to fleet modernization. DHT Holdings continues to strengthen its market position with a solid balance sheet, a high-quality fleet, competitive cost structure, and favorable time charter agreements.
