On August 22, 2025, the 'Navig8 Gratitude', which was sailing from Huelva to Sines, encountered a distressing situation when it discovered an individual of Maghrebi descent in the water, clad in a wetsuit. This incident occurred approximately 24 nautical miles to the south of Caleta de Vélez. Following the successful rescue of the individual, the crew promptly requested a medical evacuation. In response, the Search and Rescue helicopter Helimer 215 was dispatched to the scene. The rescued individual was subsequently transported to the Motril heliport to receive necessary medical attention.
