On July 28, 2026, the Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, declared that their forces successfully targeted the tanker 'NCC Ghaza' while it navigated the southern waters of the Red Sea. According to Saree, this attack utilized multiple ballistic missiles due to the tanker allegedly breaching a maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia and disregarding prior warnings. Following the incident, Saree reported that the tanker was compelled to retreat. In a separate assessment, the EOS Risk Group confirmed that anti-ship missiles had struck the vessel. However, as of now, there has been no official confirmation from the owning company or Saudi officials regarding any damage to the vessel. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also mentioned that an explosion was noted by the captain of the NCC Ghaza.
