A Maltese-flagged vehicle carrier owned by Greek interests has officially commenced operations with an Irish Sea ferry operator as vessels undergo their scheduled refit dry-docking in the UK, according to maritime reporter Jehan Ashmore. The Neptune Aegli, capable of transporting 1,800 cars or 1,550 lane meters of trucks and trailers, has launched its inaugural sailing today for P&O Ferries, featuring a day crossing from Dublin to Liverpool. Neptune Lines boasts a fleet of 16 Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC) and has positioned the Neptune Aegli alongside P&O Ferries' European Endeavour and ropax vessel Norbay. Meanwhile, the sister ship, Norbank, has entered dry dock at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, a prominent shipyard situated across the Mersey from Liverpool Docks. This strategic charter underscores the adaptability of maritime operations in accommodating vessel maintenance while ensuring continuity of service in the busy Irish Sea trade route.
