In a strategic move, Norden A/S has successfully negotiated the sale of their two Geared Panamax vessels, the 'Nordkap' and 'Nordpol'. Built in 2002 by Kanashi Toyohasi in Japan, both vessels are equipped with four 30-ton cranes, making them highly efficient for various cargo operations. The 'Nordkap' underwent a dry docking in July 2019, while the 'Nordpol' was serviced in June 2019. This acquisition deal, valued at approximately USD 14.5 million for the package, has been finalized with buyers from China, reflecting a growing interest in robust shipping assets in the region.

On October 14, 2018, at 08:50 AM, the bulk carrier 'Nordkap' experienced an oil leak that led to the vessel drifting 7.87 miles south of Dungeness Point, specifically at coordinates 50°48'24.6" N, 001°00'24.6" E. At the time, the ship was sailing in ballast from Hamburg to Trombetas with a crew of 22 on board. The incident necessitated the replacement of filters and seals in the engine. Fortunately, the estimated repair time was only around 30 minutes. No external assistance was requested during the event. Once the necessary repairs were successfully completed, the 'Nordkap' resumed its journey towards Trombetas without further incidents.
