Nord Copper Runs Aground on Paraná River, Gains Immediate Assistance
On April 13, 2019, the bulk carrier 'Nord Copper', navigating towards the Punta Alvear roads, experienced grounding at the 406-kilometer mark on the Paraná River. Rapid response came from three local tugs: 'Brutus', 'Zeus I', and 'Tumbador I', which worked tirelessly to assist the stranded vessel. After efforts to refloat the 'Nord Copper', it successfully emerged from the mud and was freed on April 14 at 9:45 PM. Following its return to Rada Rosario, the ship underwent thorough hull and engine inspections. The vessel is expected to continue its journey as soon as inspections are completed by the Argentine Coast Guard.
