In a dramatic turn of events, a Guam resident found himself in perilous waters while attempting to sail to the Philippines. Gary "Barney" Ball was rescued approximately 300 miles west of Palau after his voyage took a dangerous twist due to a tropical storm, as reported by the U.S. Coast Guard. The rescue operation took place on Wednesday when the crew of the vessel Wangarrata, en route to Japan, came to his aid. According to Coast Guard spokesman Lee Putnam, Ball's sailboat, named Hallejlujah, experienced severe technical difficulties, including a broken mast, engine failures, and the complete loss of steering. Thankfully, thanks to the timely intervention of the Wangarrata, Ball's life was saved from the stormy seas.
