Oman Drydock Company to Transform Olympic Target into Crude Oil Carrier
Oman Drydock Company (ODC) has secured a pivotal contract to convert the ore/crude oil vessel, Olympic Target, into a dedicated crude oil carrier. This exciting project comes on the heels of ODC's successful conversion of four Greek vessels—Olympic Luck, Olympic Lion, Olympic Leopard, and Olympic Trophy—originating from Springfield Shipping Co. The transformation of Olympic Target is set to be completed within a tight 80-day timeline, utilizing over 2,200 tonnes of steel and engaging more than 300 skilled workers. The vessel arrived at Al Duqm Port & Drydock on November 5, 2016, where it will undergo extensive conversion along with vital general maintenance, which includes coating, the replacement of various components, and additional necessary repairs. ODC plans to execute this ambitious conversion with the collaboration of a dedicated team of technicians, engineers, and industry specialists.
