The Oracliff: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On December 5, 2024, the tanker 'Oracliff', which was transporting a cargo of cooking oil, encountered a serious rudder malfunction off the coast of Barfleur. The crew promptly reported that the vessel was unmaneuverable to the CROSS Jobourg. Initially, a Dutch salvage firm was engaged to tow the tanker towards Belgium, especially in light of the approaching storm, Darragh. However, on December 6, complications arose when damage to the towing vessel forced a cancellation of this plan. In response, the Maritime Prefect of the Channel and the North Sea took swift action by dispatching the emergency tug 'Abeille Liberté' to assist. This tug successfully towed the 'Oracliff' to the port of Le Havre, with the vessel arriving safely on the morning of December 7, 2024, in collaboration with local port services. As of December 9, the tanker remains securely docked at Le Havre, awaiting further inspections.

On December 11, 2023, the disabled tanker 'Oracliff' began its journey from Le Havre, escorted by the tug 'Abeille Horizon'. The operation aimed to bring the vessel safely to the port of Ghent. As the convoy reached the Flushing roads on December 13, the tugboats 'Multratug 33' took the lead as the steering vessel, while 'Multratug 1' and 'CMS Warrior' joined to assist in the final approach to the Ghent harbor. This coordinated effort ensured the safe transportation of the 'Oracliff' to its destination.

After undergoing critical engine repairs, the 'Cliffwater' has successfully departed from the Chemical Port in Rotterdam. The vessel, which encountered engine trouble while sailing from Immingham to Le Havre, was towed to Rotterdam for necessary fixes. On February 22 at 11 p.m., the ship left the repair dock and made its way to Petrol Port 2. Following a brief stay, the 'Cliffwater' finally set sail from Rotterdam once again on February 25 at 10:40 a.m., ready to continue its journey.
