The ship was subsequently anchored at Karanlik liman in the strait around noon. Following this incident, the crew promptly initiated repair operations. The vessel successfully resumed its journey on August 23 at 12:20 p.m., with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) set for August 24.

On July 18, 2012, a maritime collision occurred between the vessel 'Sider Lipari', owned by the Polish company Pol-Euro Shipping Lines Plc SA, and 'Asso Zejt 1'. This incident later led to legal proceedings handled by the First Hall of the Civil Court in Malta. In the case titled 'Godwin Xerri on behalf of Pol-Euro Shipping Lines Plc SA and Sea Voyager Shipping Ltd vs Zejt Marine Services Ltd', the court reached a significant verdict on December 12, 2013. The court emphasized that while the vessel's flag is a consideration in maritime law, it was not sufficient for the application of Maltese law in this specific case. Notably, the accident was attributed to the negligence of the 'Asso Zejt 1', which was identified as the vessel that struck the 'Sider Lipari'.
