On July 15, 2023, the Spanish maritime rescue agency Salvamento Marítimo successfully saved 18 migrants of North African descent, including a woman and child, from a small boat located 22 kilometers off the coast of Almería. The MRCC Almería received an alert regarding a vessel that had launched from Algeria, prompting a coordinated response. After determining the boat's location, the 'Pico Basile', a nearby tanker, was contacted to assist. Upon confirming the sighting of a white boat with individuals onboard, the 'Pico Basile' was directed to remain near the migrant vessel until the search and rescue ship 'Salvamar Algenib' arrived at the scene. The rescue operation commenced at 9:15 a.m. and the migrants were safely transported to the port of Almería by 11:15 a.m.

On March 11, 2019, in a critical situation 62 miles west of Finisterre, the vessel 'Pico Pasile' made a call for urgent medical assistance to evacuate a crew member. The Spanish search and rescue service, Salvamento Marítimo, swiftly responded by dispatching the helicopter Pesca I. The skilled crew successfully hoisted the patient aboard and transported them for medical care at the Alvaro Cunqueiro hospital in Vigo. This operation exemplifies the dedication and efficiency of maritime rescue services in responding to emergencies at sea.
