On June 27, 2023, the 'Pinro 2', a trawler operating in the Barents Sea, was apprehended by border guards from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) assigned to the western Arctic region. The vessel was captured after its crew was caught illegally affixing a net onto the trawl grate at geographic coordinates 69° 31' 12" N, 038° 30' 36" E. Utilizing advanced monitoring technology, the FSB identified abnormal fishing activities linked to the 'Pinro 2'. The crew's actions constituted a violation of the Fishing Rules for the Northern Fisheries Basin, specifically breaching paragraph 20.4, as the implementation of a net cloth on the selective trawl grid was not specified in the vessel's design and technical documentation.
