In a critical response operation, the U.S. Coast Guard successfully conducted a medical evacuation of a 39-year-old male crew member from the oil tanker 'Polaris Voyager' on November 5, 2024. The incident occurred approximately 28 nautical miles offshore from Oceanside, California. At around 12:10 p.m., the Joint Harbor Operations Center at Coast Guard Sector San Diego received an urgent notification from the tanker, detailing that the crew member was displaying stroke-like symptoms and required immediate medical attention. Promptly reacting to the situation, Coast Guard watchstanders dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station San Diego at approximately 12:30 p.m. The aircrew reached the vessel swiftly, executed the hoisting operation, and safely transported the patient. The evacuation was completed, and the individual arrived at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla in San Diego by around 2:30 p.m. Fortunately, reports indicate that the patient is currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical care.
