On March 26, 2020, at approximately 08:20 a.m., the tanker 'Pyxis Theta' was navigating at coordinates 05°59'13N, 002°21'03E, situated to the south of Cotonou, Benin, in the Gulf of Guinea, when it encountered a potential threat. A speedboat with four to five individuals approached the vessel, raising concerns among the crew. Although no firearms were visible on board the speedboat, hooks were noted, suggesting possible malicious intentions. In response, the 'Pyxis Theta' accelerated, prompting the speedboat to halt its advance and retreat from the scene.
