Bulk Carrier 'Red Orchid' Cleared to Depart After Legal Dispute Resolution
The bulk carrier 'Red Orchid' has been granted permission to leave the Port of Rosario as of September 3, 2024, following the settlement of outstanding debts related to pilotage services. The vessel had previously faced a departure ban from Quequén, enforced by the Court under the current Navigation Law. The resolution came after it was confirmed that the ship's debt exceeding $150,000 was appropriately paid through a surety insurance policy tied to a civil case titled 'judicial injunction prohibiting departure to sea.' As a result, the ship was allowed to depart after being anchored in the outer harbor for nearly a week due to this legal matter. The Court lifted the embargo when the surety insurance policy was presented to cover the owed amount. Before the legal hold, the 'Red Orchid' had loaded 16,000 tons of corn intended for Peru, while also carrying an additional 40,000 tons sourced from the Santa Fe terminal operated by Cosco, located in the San Lorenzo area.
