On June 1, 2023, the Port Authority of Chania received an alert regarding a medical emergency involving a 68-year-old passenger aboard the cruise ship 'Resiliant Lady.' The vessel was positioned approximately 30 nautical miles north of Akrotiri, Chania, on the island of Crete when the distress call was made. Swift action was taken as a patrol boat was dispatched to the scene. The crew successfully retrieved the patient and transported him back to the port of Chania. Upon arrival, an ambulance was waiting to rush him to the General Hospital of Chania for urgent medical attention.
