Coast Guard Conducts Medvac Operation Near Sandy Hook
On July 15, 2013, a life-saving operation unfolded approximately 12 miles off the coast of Sandy Hook, New Jersey, when the U.S. Coast Guard successfully executed a medical evacuation for a crew member aboard the vessel 'Salacgriva.' At 12:24 p.m., the shipping agent alerted the Coast Guard Sector New York Command Center about a 35-year-old male crew member suffering from severe kidney pain that had persisted for the last three hours. The ship’s captain urgently requested a medevac. Responding swiftly, a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they facilitated the transfer of the ailing crew member to their vessel. After the rescue, the man was transported back to Station Sandy Hook, where emergency medical services were ready and waiting. He was subsequently taken to Monmouth Hospital, and reports indicated he was in stable condition following the incident.
