Although the sanctions are set to officially take effect in early November, several buyers, including those from France and South Korea, have already made sharp reductions in their oil purchases from Iran. Harry Tchilinguirian, BNP Paribas SA's head of commodity-markets strategy, indicated from London that we should anticipate an uptick in floating storage levels as the ramifications of these U.S. sanctions deepen over the coming months. Currently, the Iranian-owned supertankers are primarily storing crude offshore for a duration of weeks rather than the lengthy periods seen during the sanctions from 2012 to 2016, according to tracking data from the tanker industry.

A new charter has been successfully finalized for the transportation of 130,000 tons of dirty cargo from Kharg Island to New Mangalore. The arrangement, effective October 4, falls under the shipping terms WS 72 for the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MRPL).
