In a significant move within the maritime industry, Atlantica Shipping, headquartered in Oslo, has finalized an agreement to purchase a duo of product tankers from the Latvian Shipping Company, which is part of Vitol. This transaction involves the well-regarded 2007-built MR1 vessels, the Krisjanis Valdemars and Kandava, each with a deadweight tonnage of 37,300 dwt and constructed at Hyundai Mipo. According to reports from Allied Shipbroking, both vessels are currently under charter, and Atlantica will acquire them at a price of $11.8 million each. This acquisition figure is slightly lower than the $12 million valuation determined by MSI, and significantly below the estimates provided by VesselsValue, which are $13.14 million and $12.74 million respectively.
